When it comes to planning a memorable family holiday, few destinations can match up to the excitement of a short break at the Manor & Ashbury Resorts. Nestled in the heart of Devon’s picturesque moorland landscapes and offering over 70 different activities during peak-time breaks, our resorts have rightly earned a reputation for being the best family holiday around. Whether you’re seeking a dynamic getaway for teenagers, an adventure-filled retreat for young families, or simply a relaxing escape, here at the Manor and Ashbury Resorts, we have something for everyone.
With so much to choose from, it can often feel overwhelming. Today we’re taking a look at our most popular sports and activities to give you an idea of where to start during your next break.
Shooting Ranges
It’s good to try something new during your holiday, and our hotel shooting ranges are a great place to start. Our resorts offer a choice of Archery, Air Rifles and Air Pistols – suitable for adults and children over 8 (with parental supervision). Our instructors will guide you through how to use the equipment safely and give advice during a short practice session. Once you’re all set, you can take part in a friendly competition to see who can score highest. The overall winner during the day will even win a certificate and prize. For younger children we also offer junior archery, using safe arrows.
Ten Pin Bowling
Ten pin bowling is always a big hit with families of all ages, as everyone competes to be crowned king, or queen, of the pins. Our resorts each have 4 lanes of ten pin, available to play at any time, for no extra charge. We also have bumper rails and ramps available so that younger children, (and adults who hate gutter balls), can make their game more enjoyable. Ten pin is always a popular choice on family holidays with teenagers. It is also situated near our games zones, which feature a great choice of video games, pool tables and more – perfect if you’re looking to relax and enjoy quality time together.
Indoor Swimming
Hotels with indoor swimming pools are a must for any UK break, and we have 3! Unpredictable weather won’t dampen your holiday spirits here at the Manor and Ashbury Resorts, thanks to our expansive indoor swimming facilities. Take a refreshing dip in one of our 3 hotel indoor pools or relax in the spa baths and saunas. Children will love the nearby water slides. We have midi slides next to all pools, plus the Manor’s Moorland pool also features mini slides and 4 flume slides – perfect on holidays for young families. Our pools and slides are open daily and are free to enjoy as much as you choose during your stay.
Padel*
New for this year, and already a massive hit with guests, padel is a great sport if you’re looking for something fast paced to enjoy during your stay with us. Padel is best described as a fun combination of tennis and squash. We have 2 padel courts at the Manor, and 3 at Ashbury – all are indoor – the first of their kind at a UK hotel. For just £5 per hour, 4 people can enjoy access to a padel court with all the equipment required. It’s a great sport for beginners, so don’t worry if you haven’t got any experience playing – plus padel is ideal for adults and children to enjoy together.
Craft Workshops*
We know it’s hard to cram everything in during short family breaks, but we highly recommend a trip to our craft centre. From long-time favourites such as candle making and pottery, to newer crafts such as resin art and pyrography, there is always something fun and exciting to try during your stay. While not specifically a kids craft resort, many of our workshops are suitable for the whole family to enjoy, and we have junior crafts which are exclusively for younger children, such as teddy creations. Once you’ve finished your workshop, you can take your creations home to enjoy, or maybe even gift to family and friends as a souvenir from your family holiday.

*Please note charges apply in all craft workshops for the materials you use. Padel courts are £5 per hour.
